Interesting. I rarely post here (although I've been thinking about making a new post since I have like 10 ideas for journal posts in my head and don't want to post that many in my blog) but I think I will participate just because I think it sucks that they are taking away the basic account option.

My favorite movies
|
Feb. 15th, 2008 @ 09:40 pm

|---|
|
1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies. 2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie. 3. Post them here for everyone to guess. 4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie. 5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.
Of course, the hardest part of this will be coming up with 15 movies I can remember the names to.
All comments are screened so feel free to keep answering.
1. All right, all right, all right, what's it going to be? A Triple Cream Cup for Christopher. A Sizzler for June Marie. 2. You mean you're dropping out? I don't look at it as dropping out! I look at it as a very strategic career move. 3. just put your pickle on everybody's plate college boy and leave the hard stuff to me. 4. What's normal anyways? 5. You said you'd always be there for me! But you're not... and it's because of me. It's my fault... it's my fault... 6. Come in. Come in, my child. We mustn't lurk in doorways. It's rude. One might question your upbringing. 7. I admire that honesty, Natalie, that's a noble quality. Never lose that, because it often disappears with age, or entering politics. 8. All right, sparky, here's the deal. If you wanna court the little lady, ya gotta be a straight shooter. Do ya got it? 9. You are absolutely, unconditionally, positively the most stubborn person I've ever known in my life! 10. One thing I can't stand is the noise, noise, noise, noise! 11. Guessing. I guess no one's coming. 12. Heh, me lead you? Lady look at me, I don't even know where the hell I am half the time! 13. Well, actually, despite popular opinion you really can't beat the truth out of someone. 14. Perseverance does not equal worthiness. Next time you want to get my attention, wear something fun. Low-riding jeans are hot. 15. *perons's name* you're special. Like "stop-eating-the-paste" special?
I cheated. Some of these are TV shows. I don't watch all that many movies so I couldn't come up with 15 :)

| » Child of the 80s |
IF YOU WEREN'T BORN BEFORE 1987 DON'T EVEN ATTEMPT THIS QUIZ
1.How old were you in 1980? I was born in 1980
2. How old were you in 1989? 9
3. Were you a Toys R' US Kid? We didn't have Toys R Us - we had Children's Palace and my dad worked there for awhile :)
4. Did you watch Transformers? Sometimes
5. Did you see E.T. on the big screen? Yes and most every other movie that came out between 83 and 89 since my parents managed a theater and we lived in the apartment upstairs
6. Did you own a Lite Bright? Yes
7. Who is your Favorite Golden Girl? The old one. Yes, I know they were all old, I mean the really old one, the mom.
8. When someone says " Who you gonna call? " Ghost Busters
9.What was your favorite toy(S)? Tonka Trucks, army men
10. Did you have a Pogo Ball? Yes, I think it was green and black
11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block? Only at other people's houses because they made me. It wasn't until I was older that I listen on my own
12. What New Kid did you have a crush on? None. By the time I "discovered" them I was sort of over boy band crushes
13. Did you play M.A.S.H? Yep on the school bus and sometimes at sleep overs. Sunee really liked it so I had to play it anytime I went to her house.
14. Did you watch The Care Bears? Yes and now Lizzie watches them and they are highly disappointing.
15. Did you have a Jelly bracelet? A?? I had like 50
16. Did you have a charm necklace and/or bracelet? Yes. I recently saw someone that was wearing one of plastic ones with the HUGE charms and I really miss mine!
17. Did you have a Glo Worm? I did. I seem to remember that it played a song but it might be an association with some cartoon show instead.
18. Did you ever own a slap bracelet? Yes! And I remember when they got "banned" because they had real metal inside and would cut people. Now they are lame with broken janky plastic inside and vinyl on the outside
19. The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles? Breakfast Club, all the way!
20. Did you have a crazy hair style? It wasn't as bad as some. Mostly my hair was short although I know I did some strange junk to it.
21. What was your first bike? Probably nothing special, since I don't remember it.
22. Name one thing you still own from your childhood? All my Care Bears (which I will say again are WAY better than the new ones), my My Little Ponies (also better than the new ones), possibly my Rainbow Bright and maybe my Strawberry Shortcakes
23. Did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid? No a real one. They were too expensive and hard to find so I got the flea market knock off. My grandma had one and now Lizzie has it
24. Did you dress like Madonna? No, I was too young by the time she was over.
25. Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake? Both!!
26. Did you watch Miami Vice? No
27. Did you own a pair of Jelly Shoes? Oh yes! I had purple ones and a silver sparkly pair.
28. Did you own a Trapper Keeper? Yep it had Garfield on it
29. Atari or Nintendo? Nintendo. You can't get Super Mario or Zelda on Atarti (but you can, and I did, get them for the Wii LOL )
30. Did you play Pac-Man? Yes
31. Which was better: Jem or Barbie and the Rockers? Jem. Barbie is lame in any form
32. He-Man or She-Ra? She-Ra
33. What movie scared you the most? I wasn't allowed to watch scary movies (except Children of Corn) until I was teenager because they TERRIFIED my mom.
34. Did you try to dance like Michael Jackson? I wasn't really a pop music fan so I never really listened to or liked MJ
35. What Is The First Thing That Comes To Mind When You Hear "Flux Compositor"? 1.21 gigawatts!!
36. What other colors did Pepsi come in? Clear!!!
37. Roger Rabbit Or Howard The Duck? Roger Rabbit. Howard the Duck was kind of scary and, I found out later, more mature than I should have been watching
38. Did you ever beg your parents to have your school picture taken with the 'LASER' background? There were background choices for school pictures? We got hauled to gym, sat in front of the same background while the photographer waited for us to make the stupidest expression that we possibly could.
39. Do you know what the Ninja Rap is? Vanilla Ice's rap from the Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles movie. Go ninja, go ninja, go!! LOL
40. Do you know why people cringe when they hear the word BUCKNER? No idea, someone clue me in.
41. Can you name the family members from National Lampoons Vacation movies? Before seeing someone else's answers I couldn't, except for Clark, so I'll go with no.
42. Wally-World or Europe? Wally World! Europe was just stupid
43. What was your favorite movie from the 80's? Dirty Dancing, FTW.
44. Will you repost this to any of your friends that were in the 80's? Yes!

| » Potty Progress |
|
I know, everyone is sick of hearing about potty training. Hopefully, this will be the last post on the subject. Several weeks ago, I told Lizzie that if she would go potty in the potty all the time, I would buy her some neat Dora or Brabie or Princess underpants. She wasn't really impressed but we kept talking it up, hoping she would get the idea. A few weeks ago, I decided to just buy some plain, boring underwear to see how it when (side note: why oh why can't you find little girl underwear in plain white? I wanted the most boring thing I could find and finally had to settle on the multi pack with some white and some prints) I started by enticing her with the sparkly butterfly underwear and each morning asked her if she wanted to be a baby or a big girl that day. Some days she picked baby and we put a diaper on. Some days she picked big girl and we put underwear on. Whenever she wore the underwear, we would remind her that big girls go pee in the potty all the time. Eventually, it got to the point of picking underwear every day and her saying "I'm a big girl, I go pee pee in the potty all the time" For the first week she was in underwear, we were the ones who were being trained. Every hour, I would flat insist that she had to use the potty and she always did. She didn't ask and if I let her go past, she had an accident. For the last couple of weeks now, she has been asking on her own and only had minor accidents (like when she told my mom "nonni I need to go potty" several times and my mom didn't hear her and she peed on the floor). Still diapers at night, but I imagine that will be a while yet. C was in diapers at night until he was 4. And honestly, that is one diaper, sometimes 2 if she wakes up and has to go in the middle of the night.
So now, that she has pottying pretty well down, I can start looking at preschools. I was afraid to even start looking seriously since she had to be potty trained and I didn't want to hassle with it if she wasn't going to be. Also, now I need to go get her some neat underpants since I promised. :)

| » LJ FTW |
So LJ has enabled content filtering. Go LJ. In their attempt to protect our virgin eyes and ears from the evils of the internet, they have incorrectly set up their content filtering to not only block out things that we shouldn't want to see (Kiddie Porn, hate speech, etc) but anything that contains any part of words even sort of associated with those things. For example, you can't search for "spic" because it is a mean name for Mexicans. You also can't search for "SPICy food" or the "SPICe Girls" Same for "cracker", since we all know that refers to white folk. That would also include the band Cracker, saltine "crackers" and the most unholy Goldfish "Cracker" You can however still search for "crack whores" so if that is your thing, then you go!
Where, oh where, shall I meet others who wish to worship at the dark and unholy alter of the "snack who smiles back"?
Perhaps this guy will be my friend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b17z6-Cy4ok

| » Dreams and presents |
I've had some of the strangest dreams recently. 2 of them were in the same night and I woke up totally emotionally drained. In the first dream, I dreamed I was at a fancy dinner with dh and ran into an ex-bf (not a terribly unlikely situation since dh worked with his wife for awhile and I watched their daughter for a few months). At some point in the evening, I had to go out to the car and he said he would walk out with me. I leaned into the car and when I stood back up, my heel caught on something and I started to fall. He caught me and then he kissed me. When I told dh about it, he filed for divorce.
The second dream was similar except I was engaged to someone else (unknown someone) and he cheated on me. The dream had a lot more details and really stressed me out but in the light of day, it doesn't seem so bad now :)
Then last night, I dreamed I was trying to plan a dinner for my firends at the mall. All of these people that I knew but either didn't really like or didn't really know kept showing up and hanging out. Then, the person that the whole thing was for couldn't make it so I was stuck having dinner with all these random people.
As for the presents part, my anniversary is coming up next week (saturday to be exact) and my present has been ordered and should be here Tuesday or Weds. I'm so excited and although I typically don't let dh buy me presents, I didn't complain at all about this one http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Digital-Rebel-XT-f3-5-5-6/dp/B0007QKN22/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1195309901&sr=8-1
I need to buy some stuff for it, chiefly a memory card. My old camera used cf but I don't have any big cards for it. The biggest one I have is 128 mb and that is far too small. Staples is supposed to have a 2 gb on sale next Friday for $14.95 and I'll probably get that. I also need a long distance lens because the one I'm getting doesn't have any kind of zoom on it. I'll need a case, but I've got a bag that will work inthe mean time.

| » C's b-day |
Today was C's birthday. He turned 6 and I really can't believe. It feels like such a short time since I posted the entry announcing his birth. I C&Ped it below, not that any of you care. But it is my journal and I care, so there :P
Things went well. We are home and learning to work together. The surgery was cake. The worst part was the spinal because I hate hate hate needles and I had to go through it by myself. They were getting my mom and Evan gowned and everything while they were doing it. I was shocked at how fast it went. They did the block and they were bringing mom and evan in just as my legs started to go numb. It was 2:00. By 2:03 they had Christopher on the warmer and were stapling me. I found out that from intial cut to birth they are under a minute and a half! I have pictures uploaded to my hard drive but I haven't had a chance to get them on the web. Hopefully I'll have some up by the weekend. My staples come out tomorrow so I'm gonna wait and see how I feel after that before I make any promises. Thanks all for your warm wishes and thoughts. Christopher was a little bruiser. He was 21 and a half inches long and weighed 8lb 10oz. He can already hold his head up for the most part and is working on rolling over!!! He tried that the first night at the hospital and scared me half to death because Evan had left him laying on the other bed while he threw away a diaper. Well, time to go. He is starting to act hungry. AGAIN! :)

| Your Karaoke Theme Song is "Since U Been Gone" | You are a very expressive and genuine person. You're not so emotional that you wear your heart on your sleeve - but you're not afraid to show how you're truly feeling.
Whether you're singing along in the car or singing on stage, your favorite songs make you get a little carried away. You're definitely the type most likely to dream of becoming a rock star!
You might also sing: "Livin' La Vida Loca," "I Will Survive," or "Hollaback Girl"
Stay away from people who sing: "I'll Make Love to You" |
Seriously? The pop music secret is lame. Like one of those is actually pop music. Weird Al? Vanilla Ice (maybe 10 years ago). They need some teeny booper kind of music to have to be a good secret. Like HSM or Corbin Blue or Hannah Montana. those would be secrects LOL
